The 4 National Taps Strategy

To ensure that Singapore has enough water for all, PUB has put in place a robust water supply system our ‘4 National Taps Strategy’. The 4 National Taps are: Local Catchment Water, Imported Water (Johor), NEWater and Desalinated Water.

Beyond having an adequate supply of water through the ‘4 National Taps Strategy’, each of us has a part to play in helping to conserve water and keeping our waterways clean as well. If each of us cut down on our shower time by 1 minute a day, we will be able to meet our target of lowering our per capita domestic consumption from 162 to 160 litres per day by 2007.

Enjoying our waters

Besides conserving and valuing our waters, we can have fun in our reservoir waters too! Our reservoirs have been buzzing with activities since reservoirs such as MacRitchie and Bedok were opened up as early as 2004. Recreational activities include kayaking, sports fishing and sailing!

These carefully planned and managed water activities at reservoirs will not adversely affect the water quality. Instead, it will encourage each of us to treasure our reservoirs more and help keep them clean!

Take the 10-litre challenge and see how much more water you can save!
