The Subcomm Camp started with ICCU (International Coastal Clean Up) on the 18th September at 8am. The cleanup was done in collaboration with Power Seraya. We walked from Pasir Ris MRT Station to Pasir Ris Park where we began the clean up of the beach. Although the Clean Up only lasted for about an hour, the amount of waste collected was huge.
After Lunch, was the start of the activities of the camp at SP. We enjoyed ourselves throughout the games. Friendship and teamwork was built between the Main Committee members and the Sub Committee members as we played bonding games like Wacko, Tree-squirrel-Hunter and Couple tag, followed by a photo hunt around the whole of SP.
The Organising Committee conducted the Sustainability Workshop. Presentations and games were used throughout the workshop to allow the Sub Committee to learn about the concepts of Sustainability in a more hands on manner.
After which, they were faced with challenges that leaders face as they decided on the conservation of certain environmental resources on an island. Beat and tired as the respective groups are, they managed to complete the preparations for their presentations the next day.
The next morning, Victor and Sharylin, SP Environment Club alumni, came down to give a talk on their experiences in HSBC/NYAA and BYEE programmes respectively. The groups did very well in their presentations to showcase their thinking process on their decisions to conserve the chosen resources.
The camp ended off with photo taking session and new friendships made. |
