PLASTICS

Always known to be the largest polluter in the environment..

Consider the fact that BYOB is in the supermarket and we are encouraging the people that do their groceries in the supermarket to reduce the usage of plastics bags. Hmmm...yes they are indeed the ones that use the lots of plastic bags...

But take a step back, are they really the polluters? 

I would not agree to a certain extent...why?????

Ask your mum who would visit the supermarket what does she do with all the plastic bags she received? She dumps them away? Most of the folks, including myself fold the plastic bag into the traditional triangle neatly and keep them for our trash. DO YOU?

I would feel the major plastic wastage is the plastic that is given when you pack food aka da pao.. Packing food is indeed the highest  of un-environmentally friendliness - disposable plastic spoon, forks, wooden chopsticks, styrofoam container, and the plastic bags given....(if it is the plastic container, one might consider re-using it by washing.)

The focus here is the plastic bag given - many of us just dump it away together with the leftover of our food. Sounds like you are using it to dump your trash, but it has only been used once!!!

Here are small tips that you can use. If you are eating with friends, and have taken more then 1 plastic bag because your have to pack from different stalls. Try combining your food waste to 1 bag and keep the other one rather than throwing all of the bags. Keep the rest of the bags neatly in your school bag, you never know when you will need it.

Do not even take a bag!!! Carry that container using your hand, though it looks a bit weird but it can go a long way. Consider that you pack food everyday, that makes 7 bags saved every week and 365 bags every year!!!

If you do not like to carry it with your hand, then Bring Your Own Bag, it now comes in different sizes, shapes, colours what is more in now are the designs and they are foldable to be so small that it lays neatly in your own school bag!!!!

Why not? Everything starts from the YOU!!! Its never too late to start...
