As part of the Green Carnival 2009, the NUS Student Union's Students Against the Violation of the Earth (SAVE) is collecting votes in an online petition to promote eco-friendly practices in NUS. They're aiming to collect more than 5000 votes per initiative, so if you are a student or staff of NUS, support them here by casting your vote. Initiatives include phasing out free plastic bags in NUS, mandating double sided printing for all NUS publications and documents, raising the temperature of all LTs to 25 degrees celsius, and supporting Meatout Thursdays. All very worthy initiatives in my opinion, so do help by joining in to cast your vote. Hurry, there's only two weeks left to do so!
Anyway looks like the Green Carnival is going to be quite a blast. The NUSSU SAVE team has done a pretty awesome job planning a Climate Crisis symposium and a green exhibition as the staple for their carnival. Plus they have already racked up an impressive 3900+ votes for most of their initiatives... looks like the team has really put in quite a bit of effort into this. And they've also done a really cool vid which you can view below.
Lastly here's a shoutout to the organising team for the Green Carnival - here's wishing you all the best for your event! We really need as many climate warriors as we can get (:
