On 30th of October, a total of 20 participants from both SP Environment Club and SP Rotaract Club gathered together for a Coastal Cleanup at East Coast Park.

Everyone was enjoying the weather while looking for litter in sands and grounds. The highest number of litter picked on that day is no doubt, cigarette butt! Each group picked an average of 100 cigarette butts. This shows that good habit of proper disposal should (again!) be reinforced to Singaporeans despite of anti-littering campaigns.

Other types of litter found include plastics, tissue paper, and food packaging. Through this cleanup, not only realising it is our role as citizens to keep Singapore’s beaches clean, we should also protect the health of seashore life like horseshow crabs. We look forward to having another Joint Coastal Cleanup in the future.
