| Species of plants that belong to the Costaceae family often feature a curious habit of spiralling pseudostems. As such, these plants are often called spiral gingers. They differ from the true gingers mainly in their flower morphology, lack of aromatic oils in their sap as well as their growth habits. Spiral gingers are rewarding plants that have immense ornamental value in the tropical garden. Many of them produce showy cones of bracts and edible flowers. Come and listen to this talk by Wilson Wong who will share with his audience the various species of spiral ginger that one can find in Singapore and grow in his garden and how one can care for them. |
