Ever had to help out a friend with bad teeth? In what looks like a suicide attempt, the Egyptian plover boldly wanders into the open mouth of the Nile crocodile. Its mission: to pick out strips of meat from between the crocodile’s teeth. This prevents the meat from rotting and possibly giving the crocodile a toothache (or bad breath!). The appreciative crocodile does not snap its jaws shut at the plover ‘dentist’ and the plover gets a free meal in return. In the wild, some animals cross the normal predator-prey barriers to form odd couple but mutually beneficial friendships. In honour of International Friendship Day, we celebrate friendship in the animal kingdom. Come join us to discover more interesting animal friends. NOTE: THE TIME STATED ON THE WEB IS NOT THE ACTUAL DATE. FOR MORE INFORMATION, RESERVATION WITH THE ZOO IS REQUIRED.
