In this job posting for environmental manager, the requirements are as such:

Requirements:

  • Diploma/ Degree in Property Development/ Real Estate Management or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in property management of shopping malls
  • Certificate in Fire Safety Management is preferred
  • Strong initiative and creativity to formulate market leading green initiative plans
  •  

    The important lesson to take away is that environemental positions are available in many unrelated industries (and it should be that way!), so one has to keep our eyes open and be persistant!  Cause many companies are trying to cash in on the green living.

    Recycling/Environmental awards/ Sustainable office Programme intern:



    Duties and Tasks:

    The person is expected to


    1. Help improve the sustainable office program of NUS (April, Early May)


    o Research and gather useful environmental information on office behavior and practices


    o Improve on the scoring system of the audit


    2. Assist in improving the recycling infrastructure of NUS


    o Identify all stakeholders within NUS campus and invite them to partake in a recycling contract due in September 2009 (April/ May 2009)


    o Assist in drafting the recycling tender contract ( May 2009)


    3. Assist in the drafting of competition guidebook for NUS environmental awards (June – August)

    Duration:


    · Preferably from April to August and at least 3 working days a week

    Preferred Skills and requirements:


    · Proficient in using Microsoft Word to do formatting like headers, Table of Content, Footnote and References, Section Break etc.


    · Comfortable with internet research.


    · Comfortable with cold calling to various stakeholders of NUS.


    · Organised individual to keep track of a long list of stakeholders of NUS and gather their response.


    · Comfortable with map reading and finding directions or familiar with the layout of NUS


    · Excellent writing skills


    · Average proficiency level with Microsoft Excel to perform simple formulas.

    The position offers a great opportunity to experience both technical and educational aspects of sustainable development within a campus environment.

    The Sustainability Executive must have a passion for the environment, possess excellent writing skills and is technically inclined towards energy or facility management. Reporting to the Head of the Office of Environmental Sustainability, the Sustainability Executive shall develop, plan, coordinate and implement programs and policies (technical or education-based) related to carbon footprint reduction at the NUS campuses. The Sustainability Executive shall also be responsible for encouraging and facilitating sustainability programs initiated by the student, faculty and staff community members to achieve sustainability objectives.

    This job is something that most of us do not see very often. Worm famers as the name suggests farm worms. Actually, these guys make use of earthworms to make compost out of organic materials such as leftover food scraps. The more exact term will be vermicomposting.
